Joint venture Architect in charge of performance spaces and spatial organization for this state-of-the-art building housing the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama with a museum/gallery for the School of Art. Venues include a 500-seat theatre for plays, musicals and operas, a 130-seat flexible black box theatre and a video studio. The main stage is transformable to various stage and seating modes and has variable acoustics.

La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla, CA

Theatre Consultant for this 44,000 s.f. facility, the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for La Jolla Playhouse. The Play Development and Education Center for the La Jolla Playhouse and UCSD Department of Theatre and Dance consists of the 450-seat black box Potiker Theatre, three classroom/ rehearsal spaces, outdoor public areas, restaurant, technical and storage support spaces and a permanent artistic and administrative home for the Playhouse. Architect: Fisher Sehgal Yanez/RoTo Architects -a joint venture.

College of Fine Arts Renovation for the School of Music

Pittsburgh, PA

Associated Architect for the Phase I renovation of Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts, School of Music, which was originally built in 1910. The renovation was completed in 2002 and included the creation of new rehearsal studios, a recording studio, a music technology center, a midi studio, classrooms, an orchestra rehearsal room and a 299-seat recital hall with support spaces.

Point Park University Dance Studio

Point Park, PA

Associated architect, theatre consultant and acoustician for this competition winning design of a 5 studio dance complex that has 1 studio doubling as a performance space with 150-seat telescoping seating, as shown below. This project earned a LEED Silver Certificate.

Santa Barbara City College Drama-Music Building

Santa Barbara, CA

Architect, theatre consultant, and acoustician for the modernization and expansion of the 53,000 sp. ft Drama-Music building which includes a choral room, instrumental room, piano lab, recording, appreciation and music labs and practice rooms. The 400-seat performance venue is being completely renovated to create a suitable reverberation time for symphonic orchestra presentations.

Fairmont State University Performing Arts Center

Fairmont, WV

Joint venture architect, theatre consultant, and acoustician for this performing arts center with a 600-seat theatre and a 130-seat black box theatre with shop and other full support spaces integrated with an engineering technology lab building addition to the existing adjacent arts building. This will receive a LEED Silver Certification.

Las Positas College Center for the Arts

Livermore, CA

Architect, theatre consultant, and acoustician for a 55,000 sq. ft. performing arts center which contains a 500 seat proscenium theatre, a 150 seat black box theatre and a 2,000 seat amphitheatre. The center also contains all support spaces, rehearsal halls, and classrooms for the Theatre Arts, Music and Speech programs. This is a LEED Silver Certificate design which has recently started construction.

San Jacinto High School Community Library & Multi-Purpose Facility

San Jacinto, CA

Theatre Architect, Theatre Consultant and acoustician for a library and flexible 250-seat black box for music, drama and dance theatre with support spaces for the San Jacinto High School community. Variable seating configurations are possible with a removable platform and a semi-fixed seating system. Catwalks provide flexible lighting positions and act as early reflection acoustical panels.

Consulting theatre architect, theatre consultant and acoustician for the design of a 600-seat theatre and a black box theatre, and choral, band and dance rooms. Under construction to be completed in the fall of 2006.

Shady Side Academy

Pittsburgh, PA

Associated with The Design Alliance Architects as Theatre Architect, Theatre Consultant and facilitator for the design of the master plan for the expansion of the academy and separately, for the design of a 37,000 square foot high school performing arts center for a private boarding school. The center includes a 650-seat theatre, 150-seat black box theatre, band room, choral room, video studio and theatre support spaces. The performing arts center is currently under construction.

Los Angeles Music and Art School

Los Angeles, CA

Architect, theatre consultant and acoustician for a 12,000 sq. ft. addition to an existing 11,000 sq. ft. facility to be renovated for teaching music, dance, drama and art for K-8 students. The new addition will contain a 200 seat multi-purpose studio theatre, with telescoping seats and platforms, a dance studio, practice rooms, art studio and administrative offices. The school was founded 60 years ago. This will be a LEED Silver project.

Western Academy of Beijing

Beijing, PRC

Six hundred student early childhood through middle school facility that focuses on information technology and multi-media. It has a flexible 400-seat theatre which then acts as a stage for a 400-seat amphitheatre. It is designed as an environmentally sustainable ("Green") building with vacuum tube solar cells for heating and photo-voltaic cells for electricity from the sun.

International architect for the design of a 80,000 sq.ft. international school that features interior courtyards and informal study. The exterior materials are woodboard framed concrete, corten steel panels and glass. The building is under construction.

Associated theatre architect, theatre consultant and acoustician for the programming and design of a 750-seat theatre and a 100-seat black box theatre for the San Diego School District. In addition to support facilities, the performing arts building includes a black box theatre, band room, a choral room and a dance studio.

Temple Emet

Woodland Hills, CA

A small 2,750 square foot Methodist Church was redeveloped in two different phases. First, a 5,000 square foot sanctuary, seating 400 was added to the east, and the existing sanctuary became a social hall. In the second phase, the social hall was expanded to seat 300 people and include a stage with a kitchen and administrative spaces. A religious school with nine classrooms was also added on a higher level on the sloping side.

The Church of the Ascension

Pittsburgh, PA

A 40,000 sq.ft. combination addition and renovation adds a Parish Hall,classrooms and an administrative office to this existing church built in 1898. A 110- seat amphitheatre is outside the teen meeting rooms. The new construction is primarily a glass curtain wall combined with stone to relate to the existing building in a contemporary manner. The renovation of the sanctuary was previously completed by our firm.
