The La Jola Playhouse University of California, San Diego is the home of UCSD’s Department of Theatre and an experimental dance laboratory for artists and educators. The La Jolla Play House is located in the UCSD Theatre District. The Lajolla Playhouse in the University of California, San Diego Theater District was a joint venture with RoTo Architects founded by Michael Rotundi. new Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for La Jolla Playhouse, Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre, new complex adds a new venue to theatre district that has the Mandell Weiss Theatre and Mandell Weiss Forum, also adds new offices, rehearsal spaces, shop and warehouse, Des Mc Anuff artistic director, Ellery Brown director of operations, Theater Designer Matt Dirk Fischer designed the tension wire grid system with removable tension grid modules, 40’ x 64’ tension grid 24’ above the stage deck, manufactured by Stagecraft Industries, 18' x 20' large trapped area with 4' x 6' traps, 120 seating risers manufactured by Stage Right Corporation, five chain hoist trolley beams, lighting was installed by LVH Entertainment Systems, ETC Obsession® console
